The Michigan State Spartans beat Michigan on October 3rd in a stunning overtime victory. Larry Caper scampered twenty-three yards shedding several Michigan tacklers before strutting down the right sideline and crossing the goaline untouched. Michigan had made an incredible comeback that silenced the MSU crowd by completing two scoring drives in the last five minutes after MSU had held Michigan to 90 yards total offense up to that point. Michigan freshman quarterback Tate Forcier was sensational in almost single-handedly bringing his team back. However, in overtime, a Forcier pass was tipped in the endzone and intercepted by Chris L. Rucker. MSU seemed to be setting up a winning field goal try, but Caper ripped through the Michigan defense for the win.
